Like At The End Of The War

You don't have to love me
or even look at me anymore,
this is who I've become
like at the end of the war

I like my self-made prison,
my solitary confinement,
I like to cock my head
and knock out my alignment

I like turning my phone off
and not wondering what you're doing,
I like turning my back on
something not worth pursuing,
I like coffee at 3 in the morning,
even more when storms are brewing

Jimmy crack corn and I don't care,
the master's gone to roam,
the war is over now and lost
and I am heading home.

A poem begins with a lump in the throat.
~Robert Frost

ah, I know what you're talking about a little too well right now.
Very well said.

Impressive write, dear Dixie!

Though I hope you love your freedom, more than a "self made prison"; girl, you are meant to soar ...

Love and hugs.

You’re good

I may not comment often enough
yet the fact remains

Keep as you are
You’re doing well

Who knows
What the future holds

I liked this, Dixie.  I can remember a time in my life where I unplugged my phone, too.  It helped me take control back.   ...jo
