In memory of Ziwar Muhammad Isma'il,
who lived in Zakho, Kurdistan until Iraqi
soldiers in disguise murdered him for
the crime of being the wrong person.

Protest

Subtle
As a manure
Spreader and as fragrant,
Protesters bellow phrases coined
To dignify the Reich. A country’s name,
A president’s, change just those and
It’s nineteen thirty-eight.
Aged manure so…
Subtle.

I remember this so well... because you wrote it so well a heart couldn't forget.

And now, as then, my applause is of the reverent kind.

Eddy darling man, Oh how I miss your writing, I'm too often away from this place, but I'm never far away from your writing. This is, as is always the case with you, an excellent piece of writing, and the subject couldn't be handled better, you darling man are one amazing writer. (I do tend to repeat myself don't I?) Forgive me darling man, pretty please? Anyway an amazing piece and why oh why has it only got our beautiful Suthern's comment? why isn't it bedecked with glory? Oh well perhaps it is too good and ..... (I shall say no more on the grounds I'm not here often these days.

Wonderful writing and you are right, never, ever forgotten, and never, ever should be.
Love and warm stuff
as always

Yes....some of my friends, or those who have said they were, are quite notable by their absence from this one.

I'm glad the two of you didn't treat it -- and me -- in that way, just because I spoke a truth that needed to be said, even though it is one that might make some people feel less than comfortable. I will most definitely remember.

I'm glad to see you, Marsha....I've also been unable to be here very much, recently, and I hope we're both able to come to the forums more now. I've missed some good poetry, and I've missed my friends.

Of course, being me and totally unaware of everything, I didn't know who he was until I googled his name.  Just another martyr in a long trail.  Sigh.  Yes, don't let him be forgotten, and a very good poem, too.

It seems that mis & dis  imformation is far too popular.  Gone are the news reports of fair and unbiased reporters.  Far too often the agenda is overpowering the facts.  Keep on writing about things like this, for in doing so I applaud you, Thank you Sir.
