Thrones

I’d pretend to confess
if that makes you happy.
I’d go down on my knees
and squeeze out a tear
or maybe even two.
It’s a stretch,
but I could think
of something I’ve done wrong

maybe

a long time ago.

And hey, I’ve got pretty good
at this holding up one hand
and shutting my eyes
thing.

I can mutter under my breath
with the best
and no one does a better
AMEN!

That ought to count, huh?

So what’s with this
“Depart from me,
I never knew you,”
stuff?

Brother Osteen told me
that I’m justified
and Brother Roberts
healed me.

Hey, I fell down
just the way
I was supposed to do.

So,
what’s wrong with You?

Hmmm... Ya got me ta ponderin' what yer really sayin' here, Pilgrim ...

Methinks He'd prefer to see you standing strong instead of lying down at His feet.

Sorry, no pretending allowed. The truth and nothing but the truth. Besides, confession is good for the soul. Furthermore, pride is over-rated.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Thanks guys.  I got to thinking about ritual and form, and how every church has it.  And how it can make you feel safe.  It's hard to get saved if you don't know you're lost.

~ And that Osteen guy is quite charismatic too. Kudos to you if you found what makes you happy! Enjoyed the way you put it into words.
