Remember Me

Remember me when you have a chance
With a heartfelt word or joy filled dance
‘Midst the echoes of a hearty laugh
Shared o’er a toast that we would quaff
As the seasons change year after year
If you think of me then I’ll be near

Remember me in the springtime rain
As it softly taps on your window pane
When flowers bloom and your heart is long
By the arbor filled with scuppernong
If you listen close you’ll hear me pass
As the winds blow through the rustling grass

Remember me when the summer sun
Brings its warming rays to everyone
As it slowly sets at end of day
O’er ocean waves where we used to play
Just close your eyes when you cross the sand
And you’ll feel me gently take your hand

Remember me when the winds turn cold
And the leaves on trees turn red and gold
When you breathe the air so crisp and clear
Down the lane we strolled in fall of year
I will be there in the gentle twirl
Of autumn leaves that about you swirl

Remember me when the snowflakes fall
O’er the meadows and the garden wall
When the moonlight glistens on the snow
As the north wind loudly starts to blow
I’ll be there in the glow of the fire
That caresses you as you retire

Remember me in all of these things
As the world about you softly sings
A song of the bygone revelries
That lilts and floats upon the breeze
Filling your heart with yesterday
And I will not be far away

Didn't miss a wrinkle of a tinkle.
You will be remembered. Well done.

This one saddened me, but it's warm and it's tender.  I don't usually like couplet/couplet/couplet on a long piece like this one, but I was entranced by the images and it touched me.

Steve, a man whose pen is a veritable extension of a loving and romantic heart, would be a man who would be impossible to forget.
