A blade of grass bending in the breeze
is less resilient than your spirit,
which flies freely
in spite of your wounds,
the restraints placed upon you
because of a careless move by another
on a mountain highway in the snow
oh, so long ago.

You are my forever friend,
and though I moved on
to another pathway,
I am so thankful
for the time we had together.
You gifted me with many smiles,
all gracious and lovely.
They often outshone
the warmest morning sunlight.

Thank you, Susan,
for letting me be your friend,
and giving me friendship
in return.

I really miss
working with you!
