Overshadowing clouds mask the face of the day,
cast the skies in a shroud knit of ponderous gray.
Of a mood to intone a lament, yet abstain,
weight of fifty some stone pays no heed to the rain.

Wearing years like a cloak that ill fits yet's been earned,
tattered here and a bit, with its' collar upturned,
broken in by its' share of damp days in the rain
made quite sadly aware, just so many remain.

Inner layers to ward off the chill've been aquired,
and on days when it's poured kept us from being mired
in the wallow that some choose to make their refrain.
Weight of fifty some stone pays no heed to the rain.

Let us have one more go, I have need to explain,
weight of fifty some stone pays no heed to the rain.

~sigh~
When feeling the weight of a ponderous gray day, I often must look to flowers for a reprieve. Today, it was the cheery red maple leaves and golden acorns that made me smile.
