O listen well the song most pure
that walks the air on clouded breeze.
O tarry not for thee might lure
upon a moment’s silent seize.

For from the morn the row does fall
and shocks shall lay the dampened ground
as thee doth hide thy pauper’s shawl
in silence hushed to not astound.

And as the day does clasp the sun
and fall to set as dark does rise.
Thy wishful words shall then be sung
‘neath lofted clouds that dot thy skies.

As does the song traverse the ridge
and flow into the valley low.
So will the maid travel one’s bridge
and shock the stalks before first snow.

"The Solitary Reaper" by William Wordsworth
was my inspiration for this...

Very nice, Magnum!  Will have this line running through my head for a while!

"And as the day does clasp the sun"

I don't know what prompted the poem, but I think of my mother, planting and reaping the crops.

Love your gentle way with words...

Barry so very...."As does the song traverse the ridge
and flow into the valley low."

Seems I am not the only one listening this morning.  :hugs;

Awesome Magnus, I watched the "Song Catcher" movie the other night. Those old mountian songs touch me like nothing else. Being as your from those mountians made this extra special. Enjoyed! :-)
