I want my shadow

to set me free.

Perhaps that cannot be.

My conscience follows too closely,

it makes me want to fly.

I am guilty of ignoring your pain,

too focussed today on my own gain.

And now my shadow chases me

out into the pouring rain.

I am wet, feel wingless,

unable to fly away.

A well-expressed & introspective piece....I'm sure that many will relate as I do

Melissa~

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!
