Lost in thought

0 posted 2006-06-02 03:56 PM

I’ve been staring through windows
walking only when it rains
and somehow my thoughts
still lean toward you and how I want to hug you.
How I want to take the grief away,
steal that ache from the marrow of your bones.
It’s impossible,
but I would like the world to stop for you -
to tell you they don’t understand
but that they love you - will stand
or sit,  walk or cry with you.
And I’d fix the broken pieces,
the death that tore you open might even
bring you hope.
If I could, I would be the friend
who says the right things -
because you deserve it,
not because I can.
These windows, always, are a picture of you.
And I see them shattered,
painted – smoothed and
sewn together.
You are stained glass – beautiful.
And I wish you the world.

Not a great write, by any means, although it is true. I wrote it in about five minutes here at the library, because I wanted you all to know I am alive, and well, and writing. I wish I could read you all and talk to you each. But since I can't, I figured this was the best way to tell you each that I love you and miss yo.! Be well.
Always, Alyssa

oh this is so beautiful, I am one who has been shattered and to think of myself as stained glass is a thought that I like, but to take this further, I have had freinds whom death has torn apart and (as you put so eloquently )all one can do is wish to help, with all your heart, and hope it is enough, for the pain of death is so personal that each must find their way.....
very much liked this.....I have missed your writing and it is good to see you here

Alyssa,

If this isn't a fabulous write, I don't know what is!!!  You radiate that heart of yours in the perfect words, my friend.  Wish we could see more of you, too, but, are privileged with the blessings of the poetry you do and have posted.  I love the way you took something sad and made it into a beautiful stained glass window to see the outside/inside/whatever!  You write profoundly, Sweet One.

Yup. If you're gonna write like that you have to stop apologizing or else actually write poorly. Hi dear girl. I pray all is well and would like you to know I still(and always will) think you're a wonderful girl. I wish you even more in return.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

GG,

To me, your poem was a perfect source of comfort. I haven't been around much lately either but it's a real blessing to me that I stopped in to read when I did.  Glad to read that you are doing well. Thank you for sharing and God bless.

-Bob
