Long, long ago, I opened my eyes.
Through eons of time, I beheld sunrise.
‘Twas quite the amazing view:
I could see the most superb you.

Lamblike was my presence in your life,
Obliterated was I through our strife,
Valued, yet, you have been, and
Eternally will my heart crave your hand.

Blustery weather went my way.
Cloudbursts tugged at my heartstrings.
Sic transit gloria mundi, as they say.
My wasteland was my powerlessness.

Where are you now? Do you have wings?
Do you still feel mine, nevertheless?
Will fragrances from the past catch you,
Or are your accounts for ever overdue?

My own soundtrack I have composed.
The notes were simple to find, unclothed.
Will they ever be known someday,
Or will they endure, silent, out of the way?

Let the child in me rise once more,
Overpowering my hate for ever more.
Verily, your absence disturbs me, and
Exhorts me to seek God’s homeland.

Long, long ago, I fell in love with you.
Through aeons of time, I learnt to forgive you.
‘Twas quite the journey, as they say:
We might give it a try again someday.

Where are you now? Do you have wings?
Do you still feel mine, nevertheless?
Will fragrances from the past catch you,
Or are your accounts for ever overdue?

Unsound in mind and body, I may be.
But, wondering and loving, that’s just me.

So, I shall never close my eyes.
Never will I stop beholding sunrises.
For you made me see the light,
And that’s the way love should ignite!
