Closer To The Sun Tonight I'm gonna climb up Lombard Street every crooked step is taking me furthur away from you but there's nothing I can do I'm posessed by the act of coming undone I'm doing my best to be the best for you and I guess I just need to be closer to the sun Stitch me up this morning, bay bridge rain pull the wool over my eyes and numb my brain 'cause I'm thinking too much about her right now and I'm sinking in every sunrise coming across my bow and just astern, I'm staring at the viciously grey moon staring its hatred into my dark room my bones are shaking sweet dreams awaking into the realization that you're not here I'm no pretty sight as I try with all my might to hush my fears I sit bedazzled by the evidence of your existence a bottle of sleeping pills costs nine dollars and twenty-nine cents 'neath a neon convenience store sign I search my pockets for a stray dime to call your empty apartment just to ponder on the words you never meant just to document your stunning migration away from my many moods and frustrations And oh, a broken heart doesn't mean you can't feel and hurt feelings don't mean you're now numb inside but right now I don't think I can deal with the lack of love in my life 'cause I've been so dumb but somehow I still have a little pride yeah, even losers carry a little strength within and even winners will fall to the light on your skin and how they can't go back into the world of you I swear when I get closer to the sun, it's nothing like you, girl, you "Is any song worth singing if it doesn't help?" -- Wilco, 'Wishful Thinking' |

soul drifter I have been in San Francisco feeling similar unhappiness....it is a place where climbing away seems possible. Some great lines in this poem..."viciously grey moon" is one. I wish you well! |
