he sits in the corner
hands between knees
body bent forward
cigar smoke drifting
past lady
out sleepy window

he straightens
sips from glass
eyes rake lady
hard
bare feet
lift of hip
soft coil of sleep

lady wakes
sleepy smile drifts
with cigar smoke
beggar eyes
fingers call
to charcoal man

he chuckles
picks up his glass
tips Panama

screen door slaps hard
behind him

The day is not complete without peeping slying thru the veiled window of charcoal man and his lady.

I do so love their tale.

Yep, I feel that hiss too ... and then I think "that's our charcoal man" and that's why we love him.

At least, that applies to how I feel. Can't speak for the rest of you.
