Spelunk! Spelunk! Spelunk!

Falling drops of lime,
suspended moments in time.

The cave climber's twilight zone
beckons you to enter
the crystal chasm below,
where spelunkers dangle
from friendly threads
and crawl on their knees
'round majestic columns
massive as giant Sequoia trees,
and shiny soda straws are
swallowed by Mother Earth's
cavernous mouth,
while jazz curls itself
capriciously through deep canyons
and painted galleries.

Listen to an opus of Nature.

The sounds of a saxaphone suddenly echo
point to counterpoint,
blending harmonically, sensuously,
as dancing lovers entwine
beneath surface sinkholes that
camouflage hidden treasures,
filled with young vertical shafts
cutting through moist passages
of calcite speleothems;
a whirlwind melody of
enveloping stalagmite reeds,
notes dropping serendipitously
from crystalline stalactites.

Spelunk! spelunk! spelunk!

Bridging the ethereal tunes of nature
surrealistically with sensual sax sounds,
a jazz fusion caresses you alongside licks of lime,
mingling Aeolian chamber music with jazz sublime,
and beckoning you to enter
these chambers divine.
*
another cave rewrite, just me
imagining what it would sound like
if a spelunker friend of mine
who plays the sax ever played
within the caves

Note:The opening of a cave is affectionately called the twilight zone by spelunkers, whose first love just may be exploring the secrets of caves. It is not a reference to Rod Serling's old Twilight Zone show.

Hope you don't mind, Kacy,
but don't you know that I have
a photo of such spelunkings...

one or two, or more, in fact!

Enjoyed the poem, and
of course, you allowed for
some good reminisce!
