Between the Lines

I can feel the raindrops
though inside it seems to pour
for missing are the days back when
those days of evermore.

I can feel them softening
but the aching still remains
for once upon a time there was
a future and its gains.

I can feel the newness of
though the timing's never right
of one who brings me happiness
and shadowholds at night.

I can feel the victory
of future in the breeze
for tomorrow is the "after of"
that time will let me seize.

I'm almost there, in outlined life
with forces though unseen
pushing here and pulling there
as always in between.

A day to mourn and celebrate
a hope that each will blend
remembering as if the last,
a lifetime left to tend.

M

Thank you Barry...I should tell you that it was your great form of rhyming this morning that made me want to do the same...rhyme that is...
I just don't have much to write about lately, with the days spinning by and me seemingly accomplishing nothing.

But I have my future thoughts in the keeping

I do love the soft melancholy in your words and the positive outlook, ever present.

Beautifully expressed synchrony with the rain!

In the beginning of this it reminded me of what I just told a poster before - that youth is best because of the lack of knowing the ultimate things that come with age.

But the ending feeling I got from the poem is that the wisdom is worth the age, and that going back isn't necessary to embrace happiness in ones-self. I really loved the imagery in this one, it was as if you were whispering the poems story into my ear. Thank you for sharing

I love the opening:

"I can feel the raindrops
though inside it seems to pour"

like u cry physically but u cry even harder inside trying not to expose your secluded emotions found deep within your own conscienceness. I liked this it is so grounded in my opinion...good job elevation is the keep

Ah, but this one sings to me.

Excellant.

I know,...I know.
And yes, you do have a lifetime left to tend.
Sending heart hugs and warm birthday wishes your way.

this was lovely, the beginning reminded me of the saddness, yet, as you went along opening each new paragraph, it became more vibrant, more alive with color...like every phase of life...

very nicely done

“I can feel the newness of
one who brings me happiness”

Now what could be better than that?
Nice write!
