When passion’s flame will dim, and lonely heart
Will fail to stoke its glow; when fleeting kiss
Is all that chance will lend; when souls apart
Will drift as floes on icy waves, the bliss
Of love’s embrace forlorn and long forsaken -
What demon fate will play such game with lives
Of lovers past, their love so cruelly taken,
And sorrow carved with ragged, frigid knives?
But yet - what fate exists that grants a grief
So keen that hearts themselves would glad accept?
For life is but a flicker cast so brief -
So let no sorrow quench it with tears wept:
For each heart that dwells in the depth of night,
Let new day rise and free the shuttered light.

CG!!! Where have you been? ~ I do, however, know what you have been doing! Writing this fine example of poetic thought expression!

The closing lines were the clincher!

"For each heart that dwells in the depth of night,
Let new day rise and free the shuttered light."

Perfectomundo! Enjoyed the read!
