Seems words here are always the same lamentations;
sad hearts, gray deaths, yesterday...
I'm a fake writer;
no quill or even ballpoint pen.
It's WordPad and words repeated.

The truth is I like flowers;
photograph them and stare all day.
Bubbling with joy, so deep and so whole
that sometimes I avoid it's face, afraid to touch it,
afraid it will make grief artificial.
I watch movies on weekends, laugh with friends.
And bad health or not, I grin and blush and dream
about a future, not perfect but perfectly filling,
saturated by love.

Yes, death screams in my past.
And I miss her, and her, and him, and him;
the rest, as well...
but their lives speak more than those
sad, decisive moments.
The truth is, they made times brighter.
Teaching me how to give with wide open hands,
love with a wide open heart.

My family lacks much; their love swaggers, falls.
We disappoint each other and nights are tear-filled,
harsh and alone.
But I've been given a lot, taught more than most,
loved completely.
Joy is everyday, eternal.
And the flowers in my photos never fade.

Hupomeno.

GC, this really speaks to me and I absolutely love it. I write my poems on Notepad.. but I think the words are just as true and heartfelt than if they'd flowed from pen or quill.

The last stanza was my favourite; one for my library where your words will not fade either.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

Dear Alyssa

Your words are always so obviously written from your heart and this was a perfect example of that.  I also share your love of flowers and have taken many photos of such.  I'd love to see some of your pictures.  You can find mine here :

So poignant... is it true of all families?  This is a beautiful poem.

Dear Alyssa Lee, So good to see you posting and what a beautiful poem to come back with!  You are so true in your words, not an artificial or  mean word ever comes from you. I so admire you. As a young woman who has  had so much to bear so young, you strike me as a positive winner. You will do well, and so far have learned so much more than others, that thinking only of oneself  brings on more sadness and unhappy thoughts. You have shared your goodness and not just the sadness. Keep writing, keep up with your photograpy and keep posting, as I am being selfish here and wish to read more of your thoughts. I love how you are growing, so positive and so much caring in your soul. It shows.  love you dear on, martyjo

GG where in the heck have you been, I've sorely missed you...you have covered a lot of ground in these your words...

this was not only lovely but wise....
The truth is, they made times brighter.
Teaching me how to give with wide open hands,
love with a wide open heart.

and this...

My family lacks much; their love swaggers, falls.
We disappoint each other and nights are tear-filled,
harsh and alone.
But I've been given a lot, taught more than most,
loved completely.
Joy is everyday, eternal.
And the flowers in my photos never fade.

GG, love is not only goodness and satisfaction, but disappointment as well, since we're only human beings...and I like the way you so maturely understand that...sadly, some people run away from love, upon being disappointed...

stand tall girl, you've got so so much to be proud of...and most of all, I'm so proud to have had the chance to read your words again...
don't stay away so long next time, if possible.

Love to ya girl...

Hey you,

seems to me that those who have gone before you hold your hand . . .

a most beautiful gift in this crazy world.

This reminded me too of that part in American Beauty, the boy - who said sometimes he cannot stand to look at beauty in the simplest form because it makes him cry, the beauty and that pain and death are much easier to deal with, although he also saw beauty in death.

Have to watch that again . . .

You are far from a wordpad writer, Alyssa.

silly.

Hi Alyssa!!  It's good to see you!
This is such a touching poem, Sweetie. Thank you so
much for sharing your memories with us.
This ending especially touched me....

rainbowdust,
thank you! It may be crazy, but I've just always marveled at people who could manage to write their poems on paper instead of the computer. Makes no sense, does it? Glad to know I'm not the only one who just uses the computer. Best to you!

Suetang,
I was all set to bring a disc from home with a couple photos on it so I could post them here, but I forgot the disc, whoops. I'll try to remember again next time. Your photos are excellent! Very beautiful. it's great to hear from you.

The Lady,
Sadly, I'm afraid it may be. Thank you much for your reply

LeeJ,
I've missed you, too! No computer at home since I moved out, and I can't make it here to the library too often, and when I do only have an hour and can hardly make it to the beloved pip home. Your words mean so much to me, thank you for them. You say I am wise, but in your words I can see that you are. Take care

Sue,
you're right, they do, and it is definitely a beautiful gift... I'm thankful beyond measure, despite my grief and complaints. I don't think I've seen that movie, but maybe I oughtta check it out. ohh I've missed you, m'dear. Thank you so much for all your kind words.

Jo!
How in the world did I miss you up there? My minutes are running up so I'm in a hurry, but trust me, I didn't miss your reply because it doesn't mean much to me! It's hard for me to get an uplifting piece done, but what I love about yours is they always seem to be uplifiting and it appears to just flow so freely from you. I miss ya! Take care.
