Easy Fix Life

What does he think...
I play dead and roll over?
That the nicety from me
means I care again, once more?

My life is no game and
the "ours" hour is over.
You've lost what you thought
wasn't good enough before.

I'm stretching far more
than my mind wants to go,
a headache that pains
though the going is slow.

Each day I move forward
and I'm leaving you behind
though I'm doing it through gentle,
co-ercing of kind.

It's always that way
when you think there is more
than the years that we grew
together in explore..

Just a wink and a toss
from a beauty, so thought.
You were gone... I, forgotten
while her web had you caught.

**                  **
It's those who leech off of
can't do for themselves
looking for another,
more settled in ways...

Thinking *easy fix life*
to their own despite all
And the prey has lost out
to his now "lonely" of days.

**sorry~~just a bit of venting

Venting looks good on you, Maureen.  Your writing has grown so much over the few years I've been reading.  I see strong wings sprouting in more than one venue.  Good luck to you, Maureen.  I have high regards to you as a person and a poetess.  Excellent.

RedStone...this was meant to be a vent (and maybe a warning, at least from me) about a younger woman(I was told a younger version of myself) who thought that catering to my husband's low self esteem could win him over and be able to have MY life ((that it took  over 30 years to build TOGETHER))...at a time in his life when he was  doubting himself...and of course like first loves it made an impression on him, one that thought if he gave me up for her, all the world would be wonderful again...BUT,there is much more to life than just filling someone's head with compliments whether true or not and I have everything I worked for, even after, she has moved on to someone else to try and live off of, and he is a lonely person. END OF VENT

Thank you...make sure if you find someone that you can mutually satisfy one another, adding to each other's life, that she/he isn't married and don't look for the easy way out.
Just my opinion~~

Don't be sorry.  Venting is healthy.  I am sorry to hear about what happened but relieved that you were wise, strong and determined enough to stand up and be counted.  Good poem too!

OwlSA..I didn't stand up too well about 5 years ago, but turning my life into a slow moving process turned bitterness into caring and doing things "my way" to keep both of us afloat.

Too many leave or throw away everything out of sorrow or anger or even try to get revenge. By letting "natural feelings" take its course, all that slowly faded until  responsibilities and the good years came to the forefront salvaging at least friendship
to finish out this next year or so.

Although I have to admit, poetry has been a great source of healing even if I am the only one that reads it

Maureen, you are extremely wise.  If only more people would do what you advocate.  Although, I have basically felt what you said, I have never thought it with such clarity as you have put it here.  With your permission, I am going to copy your reply for my own edification and that of others I have yet to meet.

Any poetry you post here, is read by many, but presumably you are referring to poetry that you feel is too personal to post.  Yes, I too often write to define my thoughts and to heal, whether kept to myself or posted in a forum.  I am glad you find it so too.
