To Be The Rain

Such prophecy spends a final chime
Lightly along the shag of uneven feelings
As if my spirit has left vacant my body
In echo and reverberation

Late winter skies hold back their bounty
Grown thick in cheeks held closed
Sealed shut the opaque shroud of invisible tears
But oh, to be the rain

Falling softly in a shower that seeks you
Wetting hidden spaces with fleeting dreams
Making puddles that raise applause upon the flesh
And dance in gentle rhythm

Falling softly upon you, kisses that embark in stream
Never ending on a journey to become the sea
Become the dew washed over me
Then cried in love so honestly

"Falling softly in a shower that seeks you
Wetting hidden spaces with fleeting dreams
Making puddles that raise applause upon the flesh
And dance in gentle rhythm."

This sent shivers down my spine, one of the most beautiful rain poems I've ever read! It's strange to be reading so many poems about rain and winter though.. down here, we're in the middle of one of the hottest summers ever!

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

TD, this is a bit of a change for you, but I really like it.  It is so deeply honest in its feel and I especially liked the last verse.   ....jo

every once in a while a poem comes along that I can visualize as though I were watching a high graphic film, or music video.

This was one of them.

"Sealed shut the opaque shroud of invisible tears"

Oh, I love it, I love it!  Just the imagery in this phrase, and all the others... it's so beautiful!

Kathleen, I tried to choose my favourite line or stanza
but, this entire piece is so breathtaking!
Oh so very beautiful...a keeper for my library.
