Visions of Solitude

Do you ever find yourself staring in the mirror?
Sometimes looking so hard for change
That your reflection distorts the truth----
Why is it so hard to believe,
That God made you to be you?
We stare into headlights like timid creatures
Waiting for blurs to become more defined…
These moments that seem to hide from the dark,
Glow fluorescently from Aurora’s closing eyes,
Wishing upon a distant star for happiness…

Let’s pretend for this instance,
That we are allowed to peer into the souls of others,
Without the nuances of blindfolds and pity
Allowing life this opportunity to pause,
So we may become invisible to fears and selfishness,
Empowering self-love to listen without hearing,
By carving sleeping thoughts and tears
Onto the cobblestones of a different path---
A path of unintelligible words speaking in tongues,
Branded on the lips of good hearts,
Like a trophy inscribed in golden letters;
Letters that shine into the eyes of winners---
A reflection we ought not to be fooled to see.

Marcel

I briefly read this a.m., but would like to reread this a couple of times.  On the first read, I found it stunning.  Enjoyed a bunch.  A keeper to ponder...

Marcel~

'Why is it so hard to believe,
That God made you to be you?'

This questions drives the soul to search within and not be fooled by the reflection ...~

Thank you~

Wonderful write.

"Waiting for blurs to become more defined…
These moments that seem to hide from the dark,
Glow fluorescently from Aurora’s closing eyes,
Wishing upon a distant star for happiness…"

My favorite part...
