Center of the Mushroom

Pots rumble together
In the rusty sink
Awaiting a good cleaning

Shriveled hands massage
The grease off the pots
With a dime amount of soap
Clean enough.

The knife drops to the floor,
Becoming dirty once again
Drops
Until it hits

Surface tension
Roofs no more
Extracting life
From the earth

Running up the sky
Then disperses
At the top

The pots…
They are dirty again.

Momma says, "Life... is like a box full of chocolates, you never know when you're gonna get one with a nut in it".
