I woke up
to the sound
of a rain crow
weeping.
But there was not
a cloud up in the sky.
Fate had took his mate
while he sat
sleeping.
He woke up
to the sound
of the Horned Owl's cry.
He heard the terrible wings
drawing near.
He closed his eyes
and hummed his
own Death Song.
And when he felt
there was nothing
more to fear...
He looked around
and found that
she was gone.
