WHY THE ELATION?
August 1998

Why is it, that with all my fears, failings and inadequacies,
I am not sucked down into the cold, wet vortex of despair?
Why, with all my guilt, can I sit at my desk
and play with my cat at two o’clock in the morning,
exhilarated by the gentle sounds of night,
breathing poetry of others
and ablaze with joy at my near solitude?

Why, even in the revealing light of day,
do I love my barren life so ardently?

What is it that I share continually
with you
for so long
without you?
And how did the searing pain become only a dull bruise
which I prod to keep alive and cherish with unabated joy?

Why can I not envy the shallow rich, no matter how hard I try?
Why is it that my life is so rich and blessed and full?
What is it that I have,
that no-one else seems to share,
or want to?

And why
is nobody
bathed
in wonder
at what it is
to be me?

Owl

sometimes when you ask the question and ponder you find the answers.....

And so it those we live with
and should know who elude us
But we can still love them
we can love completely
without complete understanding

What fools these mortals be that don't want to share with you Diana.

I got a wonder bath too! Thank you.

this was amazing...and exactly the way I see it to...maybe this is the very first time, you feel your allowed to be you, and don't have to live up to anyone else's expectations of who they think you should be, yanno?

I find this very soothing, like a paradise almost...my own...hehe

Thank you Greeneyes.  I think what you said is right most of the time, if only we stop to listen to our question/s.

Thank you Martie, you're a sweetie.

Thank you Kate, I'm sure you could make me smile on the blackest day!

Thanks, Caroline and happy little giggles at your clapping smiley!

Thank you Uriah.  Much appreciated.

Thank you Lee.  I think perhaps my problem is that I insist on always being me, though not to the detriment of anyone else (I hope, well maybe sometimes it is - oops!)  I hadn't thought of this as soothing (quite the opposite, in fact), until you said so and I re-read it, and yes, I see what you mean.

Thank you Earth Angel.  You never fail to bathe us all in the light of your wonderful, loving spirit.
