Where the child can be free

0 posted 2006-01-16 01:20 AM

This marks my first of hopefully many entries on passions

Song of a Swing

There is a swing

no wind blows this fleeting day
no clouds in the misleading sky
and the sun smiles down with intent
on the lonely sound
the song of the swing

it rocks back and forth with
the ominous hands of the clock
counting days, counting months, counting years
until the destined day
beyond the end of music

no words to recite or describe
the forsaken melody of the swing
but it long continues singing
long past the moment
when childhood is forgotten

in the blink of an eye and the span of a life
the song will change from joy to sorrow
as a hand from a window high above
waves down to the empty grass

goodbye swing

It is truly sad that childish beauties must fade away isn't it? This is well captured. I enjoyed this one very much.

Welcome to PipTalk! I look forward to reading more of your open thoughts! ~ These were a wonderful a debut!

Your use of the swing swaying back and forth was a vivid image and was very effective in expressing your "song".

Warm, welcome-aboard hugs,
