Dancing crazy daisies I...
Oh, I have been alone alot...
behind the sign of trespassing
wandering where no one ought:
watching lines of distances
waver
like a lava lamp
purple flowers I don't know
buffer me from yellow dots
sprinkled there aside the road
and wires barb the barrier
wearying my somber bones
longing for a graze
I moan
aching
highway irises
and I am so far from my home
looking for what I have not
in patterned pines
and red dirt road
gravity
and I feel old:
clawing claustrophobically
as war cries of the battle Sun
calling all his soldiers bold
melt those patches of the snow
there within a ridge of trees -
spiking middle fingers fly
a million miles of Christmas seed
bullying that winter sky
verdantly obscene,
they seem
projections of my wicked need
to find the other side, I ride
between the lines off Hwy 1
future corridors of doves
ignoring all the signs,
I smile:
I lied about the snow.

sometimes the signs are meant to be ignored K, but this poem, definately should not be ignored.  Much enjoyed reading you this morning.

Karen...The following lines made this poem for me.
projections of my wicked need
to find the other side, I ride
between the lines off Hwy 1
future corridors of doves
ignoring all the signs,
I smile:
I lied about the snow.

Sounds like you're coming to Grand Isle, is there a fishing trip in your future?
I will be leaving tomorrow going North on highway 1 to 308 to that future corridor you speak of. If you come beware of the gnats, they bite like wolves...Paul

I've discovered home isn't what I thought it was...

it's not the tangibles..

It's the needs fulfilled...it's that warm feeling inside when you know all your eggs are safe...

Love you lady.

I'd love to know your IQ, Karen.  The vibrance of your poetry always quivers with intelligence.  I love the diversification and the mood changes, and that ending about the snow, amongst so many other things in this poem.  What a pleasure (and often a challenge) it is to read your art!

I feel old, too, but I find that so much fun, so rewarding and so unlimiting!  I believe that "old" is a compliment and talks of grace, energy, wisdom and inner knowledge and happiness that defy all the odds!

Wishing you miles of smiles and lots of NON-purple flowers.  (I'll keep the purple ones for me!)

Karen, this reached out and grabbed me.
I have ignored many signs in my lifetime,
doing what I wanted or felt I needed to do.
And now in my life? I am ignoring every
single blankety blank one of them!!!!
And, you know what else? It feels so good
the majority of the time!! LOL

smile...

Yer eyes start playing tricks on ya when you are on the road all day---dark clouds over a hill look like mountains, white clouds through treetops seem like snow.

It was a little highway game I played with myself, nod, down near Hwy 1, Paullie, with my bare dirty feet on the dash and yep, gazing out the window, wondering why I was going "home" at all.

*hearthugs* Paullie. I can't believe there's still a business standing on the sandbar that is now Grand Isle. Remember when we used to call it the "Coon Ass Riviera"?

So much gone now. But the mayor was right--as long as there's some sand there, some nut's gonna build somethin' on it. But sigh, my, my, the food is good (for everybody but you, poor baby<--he's allergic to seafood folks) and the bird watching is fabulous this time of year too.

I...really...hated...coming back. Weird, huh?

It's cleaner though, Paul. And Spring helps. But there is still an ominous lot of sun where shade used to be from those downed trees.

Take some courage with ya m'friend.

And thanks all for reading.

And for Owl? I'm of the opinion that I.Q.
is just a number--especially since an online test proved that I have lost "seven" points since official testing. If ya go by the numbers tho, my personal best was 135--my son was delighted to beat me by two points--his was 137--and you know it, I warned him that just one joint while his brain is still developing and...

I'll shaddup.

Thanks all for reading.
