A Closing Moment

Was there a path back from nothing
a place were a void was but real
No soul to break free
the end so close to hand

For where was prayer
this God of good over evil
Tomorrow never to arrive
the past a dream in happening

Another farewell to birth
crying out with one last chance
The miracle withheld from truth
solemn to this under knowledge

That final hour upon a doorstep
the endeavour lost in faiths endurance
Aware of this going down of the Son
yesterday forever a closing moment

thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret;
and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”
