Heaven hasn’t left me much
But a basket of dirty laundry
Waiting to be washed
Egging me on with the odor of a lightly
Bathed man

Stains on his jacket from
Sleeping in the alley
Next to the Asian place on Duval street
Can’t wait long enough

So I pack my bags and head off
Searching for the perfect place to
Hang my day gracefully
But his tombstone is fresh with etchings
And the title makes me laugh
“Beloved Friend”

A man too many cared not to know
Living hard on someone else’s dime
Catching the train daily
Resting along the way
With a broken bottle half drank
By sour lips

While I sit with my basket
Wondering why
They all look so small from up here

You amaze me with lines like...

"So I pack my bags and head off
Searching for the perfect place to
Hang my day gracefully"

Good work.
