My kinetic sculptures and me,
each sculpted from a unique reality.
In past days, I sometimes strung together
sea shells, seaweed findings and driftwood,
occasionally tied up with bits of leather
but never, ever delicate lace.
In removing the flotsom from autonomy
I removed myself temporarily from monotony,
then became entranced with the visuals
as these sculptures moved my sensibilities
from one point to another, serendipitously.
Today I am more often found lounging
at the shores of my dreams,
tying together bits of reality
with words I hope might move someone besides me.
But those shells and driftwood
once sitting silently in the closet
are calling out to me lately,
so it is just a matter of scattering time
to offer them freedom once again
within a windswept moment of creativity.

Mission well accomplished.

Kacy

My husband and his family used to attend the kinetic sculpture races in Eureka, Calif.  They talked of them so much, and I've been to the museum in Ferndale which houses some of the ones from the past.  So creative as I'm sure your sculptures are.  I like it that you used some of my favorite things from the sea.
