Dust, which rises from trails well worn,
Has yet to grey my soles.
Footpaths of the masses, I have shunned and scorned.
Avoiding markers, maps and tolls.

ALL, create their own misfortune.
WANT is sown and NEED is reaped.
I seek no earthly treasure,
that I must slave, that I may keep.

Never have I seen as others see,
and rarely form a likened thought.
While others purchase chains of liberty...
For the sake of Freedom, I have fought.

I have warred, for Freedom's sake...
To remain unbound by cords that stiffle
those that eat and want their cake,
measuring life in gaudy trifles.

The treasures I've gathered cannot be bought.
No tawdy trinkets have I sought for self.
Yes, for the sake of freedom, I have fought.
'Tis a mercenary's wealth.

Twin diamonds stud each pair of eyes...
Each heart holds a vein of gold...
Sparkling wishes wax in blackened skies...
Their riches to unfold.

I'm enriched with natural pleasures.
Fulfilled with every priceless breath.
And with the waning of carnal treasures...
Comes a new jewel, delved from Death.

When the war for freedom of self is fought...
The wealth is offered free.
To all who form no likened thought
Nor see as others see.
