Peeking through yonder boreal trees,
staring back at the gaze of me I see
white tailed doe and fawn
reflectively
I think of you, my daughter,
standing alongside me
inquisitive, ready for the new day
cautious, aware of potential danger out there
determined, to forge ahead and play anyway
successful, a budding photographer
already making dough, your own way.

And all this focus, this reverie
stimulated by a photo I did see
in Chased By The Light
a Jim Brandenburg photo masterpiece,
who captured an image on your birthdate
that shall forever reside in my memory.

Oh, what one picture can do!
A thousand words from this pen
only highlights what that scene does to me,
yet I shall search for that thousand words
'till the day I die.

Cool Kacy,
And silly me I thought it was a link to the pic. But I can settle for what is in imagination. Knowing you I have a pretty good image myself.  And bless you - mom.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

It's the book title, Larry.
and thank you, for reading and commenting on this. I would love to include his photo, but honor his copyrights.
A photo of Sara's would be nice, but she has her own rights.

And readers got no rights just writes. I hate that.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Kacy....thanks to you, I just looked him up....what wonderful photographs he takes...no wonder he inspires you.  And your daughter.  It's a good feeling to be proud of your grown up baby, isn't it?

I know we have some "horse" people
who will love the connection of you
and your daughter's special connection...

I know I do.

You write s, Kacy...
in many forms...in many lights.

Kacy~

You've gone and captured a very special moment with a whole lot of love.

You always grace these blue pages in the very best way.

Nice write.  I'm a mom too and I can appreciate this kind of poetry especially since I have a daughter too.

And a fine daughter you have to stand beside a fine mother!  Well said, Kacy.  Hugs, Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
