Infinity Falling

Stay clear
as the heart draws near
to what it desires most
ah, but giving up the ghost
in my Celtic knot of a soul
never ever felt this fun

So, witness as...

She ambles past me
like a lunar eclipse
aching my blue eyes
but leaving me in the dark
far too soon
and I realize,
huddled in the car park
befuddled is my face in the moon
as cold black love whistles my tune
and it pulls me like a magnet
back to her swing set
circa 1988
drinking Kool Aid
and scraping my knees for her
in the nanoseconds before she moves
to Seattle
to some bleak far away winter
without me to remind her of the time
we spent lighting firecrackers on her roof
Fourth of July fooling around
never did make my heart fool proof
foolhardy till the teenage midnight party
convinced me I was doomed to never make a sound
in another rainy-eyed girl's heart ever again
but then...

The lights dim
and I'm sucked into a world of black light blue
curls of smoke in my heavy lidded eyes
girls like this poke a hole in the night sky
and let pour this ugly knife of a thunderstorm
upon little ol' me

Like Sandinista! whirling to a close
I pick up my clothes
and wander back to my jail cell
of a room

Infinity falling
and my youth felt like a brick
smashing through a '74 Nova's windshield
and the jocks taking me into the void
of cherry bomb-blasted toilets
prom dresses and black violets
as this wallflower blooms upon the wall
watching infinity fall
from my sweaty grasp
clutch my heart and gasp
as she laughs at me
as she was laughing at me

So this is how it'll always be
I mean, this is how it's always been
hanging from a branch of a maple tree
begging her sleeping eyes to let me in

But alas...

Kurt Cobain, I see your Lithium, and I raise you
an armful of Ritalin
begging life to let me in

Whew, this was awesome, and reminded me of a high speed car, going faster and faster, or was that just me, wanting to reach the end, to see it...

I loved this!

LOL, forgive me...the chuckle, but the imagery here made me giggle...you...dangling from that branch, begging...

i LOVE reading you, it takes me a different place each time...

In your light I learn how to love
In your beauty how to make poems
You dance inside my chest where
no one sees you and that sight becomes this art
