An impenetrable shadow has shrunken
to fit my form, obscurity stubbornly clings
to my eyes and now more often than not
I trouble myself
to stop this sightless stumble,
to lay myself down never again to wake.

My words, hurriedly fleeing
the approaching blackness, have disappeared.
Not adjective nor noun stayed
to accompany, nary a verb remained
to plead absolution from this
bondage.

This darkness wants me
to believe that because You are unseen,
Your face is not turned
toward mine.

But faith tells me that I do not walk alone
that sightless is not the same as blind,
and that my guide is higher than I.

There is something to be learned here,
inside this persistent emptiness; and I
must find it
before the darkness crumples
with me inside.

Perhaps in the morning, yes, perhaps
in the rising Light

I shall be able to write...

Exquisite, JB!  It is so hard to grasp this concept at times when we believe we are alone. We must remind ourselves that He sits at our side. All things are possible through He who strengthens me.  I say this every morning when I rise, and then the light streams in.

It is persuasive, isn't it? But... you know better... and you know to listen with your heart, not just your ears. *S*

This is beautifully touching, my friend.

ah thank you all so much, for concentrating on the uplifting part and not the darkness,
I have no idea why the darkness, why the lack of words, but my faith will not waiver...love you ladies more than I can say

I have said this to myself many times.

It's always difficult, knowing there must be something we're supposed to learn, but not quite knowing what, or how. He says our weakness shows his strength, and that's what I always tried to cling to. You've said it all so well. I've missed being here to read your wonderful words. hang in there, k?

....and words captured, set within the crystal lamp of a poem, may shine for a long, long time. Shine on!
