Leaning over a sheltered ledge,
tossing pebbles into a peaceful pond
shadowed with shallow sedge

~pondering~

just where does life’s ripple end?
...in the middle, or at water’s edge?

She swam past me just then,
a solo swan, on a mission.
Graceful iridescent rings trailed,
highlighted by the softly setting sun.

She doesn’t bother with such questions,
doesn’t seek where the answers might lie.
And perhaps, neither should I.

thanks, Lee
I'm also wondering where it really begins?
Then of course, I get stuck in concentric circles.
LOL

hmmm, at least your concentric circles imply that there's some form of structure to your thoughts. you know, not like disjointed thoughts bombarding your consciousness all over the place

quote:

i guess it depends on whether we have the gumption to follow our dreams through. or whether we have dreams in the first place. hee.

enjoyed your Zen-like ending too

I LOVE this, Kacy . . .
no, we should just LIVE
(but we don't)
and reminded me of Frost

. . . this was perfection

Kacy

I wish I had written this....I know I have asked the same question.

"~pondering~

just where does life’s ripple end?
...in the middle, or at water’s edge?"

The swans  neck is in the shape of a question mark,
Which to me, designates, that it doesn't know the answer,
And as you state, it doesn't care...

"She doesn’t bother with such questions,
doesn’t seek where the answers might lie.
And perhaps, neither should I."

"perhaps, neither should I"...that's it!

The path to Nirvana is paved with acceptance
Of what is and what is not....
There, there is no I, and neither a swan
Yet both exist
Where the ripples start and also end.

I hope you find that place someday
And I meet you there.....

Beautiful poem, enjoyed

the ripples never end . . .
they go on forever
only their amplitude changes

A lovely write giving voice to what many think and then come back to but I think the thinking process is important even though there are never any answers.  I guess we are all swans in between and in spite of the questions.  Thanks - enjoyed!

Perhaps we should not ponder...
allowing minds to wander...
still, it's a vice
those thoughts that entice,
as we wonder if her mate will land here...

[I'm stuck in a really terrible limerical day...help me!!!!]

although ice is right - you've GOT IT!
