Every day a softer tread, her aim a feathered touch,
upon the sands of yesterday and store of history
where spiders build their webs in dust mite communes
and cockroaches work their magic with leftover stew.

But her body heavy laden with spirit tendencies
must move in sync today with human personality
erratic and unstable like large volcanic mountains
waiting to erupt at the drop of a tea cup.

Her light caress not promising is like a pot roast
bubbling under cover until all is said and done
and her heart like a spoon, metal, hard and cold,
dishes up the goods to the tune of silent moans.

“Beware the Ides of March” but sadly now July
and the time of happenings too far in the past
but there is dessert, sweet temptations for the soul,
if only one could know what happens after old.

The rambling queen of human beings strikes yet again
and I thought she had died the day that heaven sighed
and moved the waters, oh, just so to make her reconcile
with destiny and fate, enemies of her state.

And she doesn’t understand why they can’t understand
what isn’t birthed in soul simply cannot grow
and why they do not know she’s not a butterfly
flapping wings, flying high, and singing to the sky,
simply, if you don’t mind, for a good time.

Oh, but there are presents and gratuities,
donations of a kind that she can’t quite define,
but it’s all in the pot – “bubble, bubble, toil, and trouble”
and not in a nutshell that’s too easy to crack.

“Be gone!” cries the ghost of a now burnt pot roast
and she scuttles to the corner … but goodness gracious me
spiders, mites, and cockroaches, all three in a web
but who eats who in the last and final analysis?

She started out with good intent then just went to pot
and that’s the trouble, see, it burns a person’s … um … okay – bum
when there’s nothing on the inside to put the fire out
except spirit tendencies now on a break to soak up the heat!
