In the park
between the playground and joggers
along the disfigured sidewalk
the artist community awakens
and the rigid line of soldiered easels
salute side by side in anticipation
for the perfect image

As the day sets, people lives demonstrate poses
and brushes dressed in brilliant tints,
ice skate upon each canvas
giving breath to fictional places

Beside the mischievous fountains
grumpy old men in suspenders
play chess and checkers with bad luck,
little children search for treasure,
and the pigeons solicit in hats and canes
for food

When evening falls
the easels say goodnight
to the men in their suspenders
the sky meets the sun for their last drink of the day
and watch everyone turn home
below
the bourbon sunset

It reminds me of New York too. It's like a
tiny movie. Great images.

"and the pigeons solicit in hats and canes
for food"

I love those pigeons.

Such a beautiful view you've painted with this one.  I love NY, and that's what you brought to rememberance - Thank you!

I'll have a another shot of that bourbon sunset....meaning I read this twice and will read it thrice...I get a little tipsy after the second, but love it enough to go for total inebriation...

Got drunk on the form and content...
