Double Doors

doors
always doors

still on the sidewalk
I realize there are
two doors here

even if I could open
the first there would be
another

this place you live
has security
I should be glad

but I am not glad

of the workshirt guard
riding his electric cart
and badge
around the corner

I am not glad
because I have forgotten
my key

he glances back at me
thinking about
the sandwich in his car

he can't open the doors
not these

distance is a door
so is silence
pass one
meet another

many pairs of doors
apathy and anger
overgrowth, stagnation
ennui and
ennui

these doors are only
planes of wood
with shackles
but it is always doors

always doors
and
somehow you on
another side of them

now they are doubled
and I have no key

no way in

unless

Kazm....you're right...there are all kinds of doors and the ones made of wood are the easiest to open.  I enjoyed this poem!

oh, I love this! and a long time ago, I wrote one
doors! doors! oh how I hate them!
always slamming someone in the face
oh, those wretched wretched doors
put in place by some of the (in)human race

You double the enjoyment given here... with much to reflect upon... physical doors aren't the only ones we face without keys to bid them open.

I particularly like the "unless" that ends this... perhaps beginning more. *S* Excellent write... I've missed your work!
