We Live

We live within a garden fair
A garden made but needs repair
The changing of a changing way
Paves repercussions in its stay

And playing God the bells that ring
Is playing with the primal thing
I think the crude of mental core
Has not refined enough the ore

And I believe we sit destroy
In the Rob Roy of employ
We weave a garment made of lace
Full of holes and little grace

We play the game Russian roulette
There’s no return and no reset
The gun is pointed at our head
And dead is dead and dead is dead

It’s time we grew beyond the toys
And act grown up instead of boys

I second that -- what with war, bio-engineering, mind control, and even media...  where and when does it end rather than end up like The Island Of Dr. Moreau...???  Poignant write, as always, my friend...

I just saw this special on National Geographic and I learned that bull elephants are exiled from the herd at the onset of puberty due to their hormonal mating rages.

(I make some weird connections sometimes. )

But this:

"We play the game Russian roulette
There’s no return and no reset
The gun is pointed at our head
And dead is dead and dead is dead

It’s time we grew beyond the toys
And act grown up instead of boys"

reminded me of that, and *shaking my head* as my head tends to reach, a comment on our society as well.

NOW give me my hug and kiss.

Such a gentle lovely man you are!

The message is all too true.  I believe this is one of my favorites of yours.  It has such honesty and power.

It is good to read your poetry once again.
