Listening to every heart

Reminisce One

Even when I know to expect
that sneak of the surprise,
that singular moment when you
are still here with me ~
because you really haven’t left yet…

even when I know…

the snick and snip of
that sneaked surprised     oh
still leaves me

in some blue wonder…like,

why I haven’t really cried yet,
and why haven’t I really cussed yet,
or even thrown anything
in bewilderment,
or wonder why I can’t hate Him…

just because it really doesn’t matter
that you just started your sixth
decade…it was still too soon…

too soon…

Oh, I had such good news, too…
I can, even now, hear myself
chatting your ear off as you smile
at the end of your tin can, there,
the string pulled taut along the miles,
(you, alone, in your own home where the
vegetable ground now lies dormant
in your back yard that bore the fence
you put in, the yearly complaint over summer
that your Phoenix dirt was thirsting)
with your dogs around you, as they lay
on your feet, begging for a treat…
and I am glad they didn’t need to follow you
into some blue wonder,

too soon….

that reminisce snick stung.
And I know the real flood for Phoenix
isn’t too far behind.

I miss you.

And I miss your I told you so
over the good news
I wanted to share
with you.

I love you.

(angel comfort hugs) Oh Karilea, as always your poetry is sooooooo honest and soooooo heartfelt, sweet friend. I know with all my heart that the one you've dedicated this most glorious ode to has heard all this good news and is smiling from up above down on you as always, yay, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Karilea, she did say, "I told you so!" when she learned of your good news. It is just that her voice is much softer now.

why I haven’t really cried yet,
and why haven’t I really cussed yet,

or wonder why I can’t hate Him…

Because numb is a protection wrapping itself around us, even when it's not welcome... and because hate gives way to knowing you were blessed... even if not long enough.

Oh, yes... this definitely needs a kleenex alert... even for those of us who're waiting still to really cry... Beautiful work!

Oh my, sweet Karilea....I really felt this one.
It touched my heart so. I could only think of
my own Mother as I was reading your beautiful and
heartfelt poem. We are so close, and talk about so much.
I honestly hate to think of not having her to talk
to. Yet, I always think I will. I also feel your Dad
is right there seeing you as your dreams are
coming true, sweet lady!!

The part about your not crying yet really did
touch my heart. Such pain is revealed here.
I'm so glad you can write it out, my friend.
Heart hugs and love to you,
Ethel
