I sat myself upon a hill to get a better view
Of the valley down below, wet with morning dew
I scribbled little reference words on my yellow pad
Noticing the beauty of what Mother Nature clad

As I sat and wrote my words an artist came around
With paints and brushes in his bag, an easel on the ground
I watched him go about his task of setting all just right
Mixing up his colors to let his brush take flight

Broad, the strokes that made the sky and little squiggle lines
That made the shapes of bushes and tall and slender pines
And, green, the meadow brought to life with yellow daffodils
Orange, the leaves of hardwood trees scattered on the hills

So lifelike was his work that I had to give him praise
He asked to read my poem, and after, seemed amazed
For we had told the story of this valley and the wood
The artist and the poet, so much alike, we stood.

Seems like nowadays, tight rhyme and meter is becoming more and more scarce...  it's refreshing to read a poem, once in a while, which upholds classic standards.  (And makes for an interesting observation, too -- whatever form the creative expression chooses, it all bubbles from the same source...).  Nice work.

this kind of poetry always leaves me speechless...I won't say I can't do it, but find it difficult to write...so I'm saying with great admiration, and a tad of envy...

Well Done!

Much applause for this fine penning~

As a paint-artist and somewhat of a word-artist, I enjoy the marrying of both mediums of thought~

What a wonderfully artistic piece of poetry! I love the POV, artist/poet both seeing and offering in vivid textures and colors, this portrait of Mother Nature.

A wonderful story!  What is amazing too is that a blind person would have a totally different view of this same picture that I am sure would be astounding to both the artist and the poet as well

Enjoying your work so much.

Beautiful meter and rhyme coupled with a wonderful tale. Sometimes things are seen much clearer through another's eyes
