Pockets Of Time
~*Marge Tindal*~

Long forgotten in chest of cedar
clinging to a fragment of delicate lace
Chanced upon in a rummage for
a treasure of antique grace to adore~

Tenderly fingered, as though it were mine
this cameo of a moment divine
Mother and child of a long ago rhyme
reminiscing found in pockets of time~

Wonder just how it came to be
that this wonderful piece of history
ended up in this foreign of place
without even the slightest trace
of who they were … or where they went
Foreverly forgotten by those who should know
this mother and child … that a family loved so~

So, I believe that in the absence of kin
this piece should be cherished by one who will
keep the piece, embracing it in rhyme
sharing the beauty of these pockets of time~

~*~

~Inspired by a lovely email from Coco Baci, in which she simply said,
"I have found a few pockets of time where I may spend
some time on the computer and visit some poetry pages at PIP."

I wrote her back, "Ooooh ... and 'pockets of time' is an inspiring phrase."

Seeing as how I am a collector of Cameos ... this one
just seemed the perfect touch for these thoughts~
Hoping you agree
~And thanking you, Ms. Coco Baci~

Brilliant in meaning, idea and delivery

Why do we produce brainless, and mindless as the past hinders us to learn from the past

When most of us learn should from it because you stop learning from it and the countryside never changed

What was unimportant now becomes a desire but in ignorance

Dear Marge:

What an inspired write and how charming the cameo! Reminds me of coming across a box of pictures of children, in the attic of my in-laws farm, when they were gone. No one knew who they were! Seemed so sad! I kept them.

So very beautiful, Marge.  I hate to think how many photos such as this one are left somewhere in a box, never to be found.  Thank goodness you have been able to bring this photo to life through your lovely words.

Take care........Sue

This is lovely Marge.
I am also attracted to cameos and have a tiny pair of cameo earrings. Now...where did I put them?

Dear Marge

I'm so glad that you were inspired by Coco Baci when she said that she found a few 'pockets of time'!  This poem of yours is a wonderful 'time piece', so to speak!
