Hands of Love
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

As spinning wheel
spins ‘round ‘n ‘round,
~Into strands,
soft wool
is spun.
With knitting needles,
and balls of yarn,
The sweater is then,
begun.

Into every stitch,
is perled a kiss,
As hands of love
work away.
~Knitting a sweater
for one held dear,
For warmth
on a cold winter’s
day.

How tender your touch...
how lovely this is!

With this one you just moved me deeply, dear Linda... because I am enjoying knitting again for little Simon and indeed the energy needed is supplied by LOVE.
There IS a difference between a hand made sweater and one acquired quickly in a shop. So many hours of dedication will be felt by those who wear it!
Thoughtful and tender write!
Love and hugs.

Hi, Donna ~

Thank you for saying so. I felt a warmth inside myself as I recalled my Mom knitting me a new sweater every year. She used to say that there was a hug and a kiss in every stitch!

Margherita ~

How wonderful! Please send a kiss to Simon from me! I'd love to see a photo of him.

He's a lucky baby boy to have you for a grandmother! I'm actually a crocheter but haven't done it for a few years ~ and I miss it. It was actually meditative for me.

Sleep well and dream sweet, my friend!
Loveya!

Did you know I was a knitter!  Or at least, a want-to-be knitter....not real good at the complex stitches, but I do so enjoy knitting.  I taught Abby to knit a few years ago and she has made some of the most beautiful (and complex....I sure can't do what she does) hats, socks and scarves.  It is an act of love, Linda, yes it is!!!  Much enjoyed this "perl" (hehehe) of yours.  KBHBLY.......lily jo

Hi, jo!

That is wonderful that you taught Abby to knit and that she has spun that knowledge in to so many fine pieces of apparell!

Perhaps when you and I have some spare time on our hands, those hands should get busy knitting and crocheting!

Right now I have a chill because my bedroom window was open all night and I had kicked off my comforter. The warmth of your reply is now warming me up! Thanx, Lovely Lee! ~ I needed that!

That is exactly what it is, "Hand Of Love" when you knit or crochet for someone. I have tried to do both, but I'm not very good at it.

Hi, Noah!

My favourite sweater that my Mom knitted for me was a cable knit and it had a figure skater on the back. I practically lived on my skates while growing up in Northern Ontario.

I could feel my Mom's love in whatever she sewed or knitted for me. I'm glad your grandmother made sweaters of love for you!

I only learned the very basics of knitting as I am left handed and there were no left handed knitters to teach me...

I can knit one straight line...

Wearing something someone made for you is like wearing the warmth of love.  I miss that.

Hi, Susan!

It is so nice to hear from you! Yes, there is a special warmth one feels when wearing a sweater knitted by loving hands.

I miss that as well. I literally felt a hug and kiss in every loving stitch.

Sending you a warm hug,
