Broken
for so long as to not remember
when my thoughts told me that
I had the right to be less than so.
My bones are bagged within my skin,
to keep them from leaving a trail behind me.
Protesting movement both forward and back
they consistently rattle forth
my distressed condition.

I know that I asked so boldly, as to even
give permission but Lord
I knew not what I asked.
More than broken, my crutch is gone,
my strength in this world
is missing;
how will I withstand?

Shall it be everlasting
are my shattered pieces never to be
made one?
No.
Please forgive my ageless asking
for a piece of me is up there
with You
and choiceless am I to remain.

Lord You have become my leaning
Your presence, my yearning.
Inhabited by fragility this broken world
was not intended for eternity.
In a state of brokenness I wait
for the promise of a new world wherein
fellowship with You
and lost loved ones
is unbroken.

post note: the poem below was written one week before the death of my son....sigh...

Break me

Shattered, reeling,
broken and begging
questioning without answer;
there is no clear reason.

Added to my existing overload
a feather would be unbearable so
Lord
You and I both know
that this
is one straw too many.

The confusion is unarguable,
so much there is that is not
understood, but this I know,
Your Word is Truth
and You promised not more
than I can take.

Corrosion
resists change.

All choices eliminated,
time crumples into
silent weeping.

Your answer is Grace
and it is sufficient.
Liquefied pain falls
like rain and all that is I
diminishes.

Closed eyed, clarity
and breathing gradually
become consensual.

Angered into boldness, previous hostility
is now subdued into
hushed pliability.
Faith whispers
Lord if break
I must
then...

jellybeans

I wish there was something I could say to make things ok for you, but there isn't.  Each person must walk the road in there own way and speed.  I do know one thing though...there is a light there...you are walking towards it.

When words hurt so much to read, my heart weeps for the load the writer is carrying... and when that writer is a beloved friend... *sigh*

As painful as these are, they're also beautiful... but even more beautiful is your love and your faith.
