If he would not
Accept the favors of a woman downstairs
Please then tell us how it is

He flutes a tune to one so fair
That all the stars know who it’s for

So again
Under an autumn moon
With deepest night also listening
He offers them emotion

And could it be
With our stereotypical imaginings
We fail to see
Cold Mountain

He offers a feeling but not of control
He offers music wherever you may go
He offers ambition that others will tred

He offers himself

But in spirit instead

Dave

Hope you dont mind the words

Not at all Dave;

Han Shan belongs to everyone now . . .

Thanks for reading.

The Road To Cold Mountain

People ask for the road to Cold Mountain,

but no road reaches Cold Mountain.

Summer sky-still ice won't melt.

The sun comes out but gets obscured by mist.

Imitating me, where does that get you?

My mind isn't like yours.

When your mind is like mine

you can enter here.

Very nice John. Now, it is my understanding that Han Shan referred to himself as Cold Mountain? Fill me in please.

But even to his last day, we may image Han-shan as he was in one of his more heart-felt poems:

Today I sat before the cliffs
I sat until the mists drew off
a single crystal stream
a towering ridge of jade
a cloud's dawn shadow not yet moving
the moons night light still adrift
a body free of dust
a mind without a care.

****************************************
BOTH beauty and sorrow in his words

alone, with naught
but the sky
and the soil
he sits the mountain
and waits for no one
thank you huan yi for my words on your words on his words..
