It was there, beyond the mourn of
lying lilies, beyond the granite
spires of “amen”, of all the eternities
that lay solemn within the soils.

A place of silence and moonlit
silhouettes, of birds that sat quietly
upon the white wooden gate and cherub
laden angels that stared hauntingly
into the distance.

Where roses died and epitaphs slowly
faded as a bird’s telltale remnant
dwelled upon the stone’s edge, awaiting
Spring’s rain.

Time ceased, became a tick
that never heard the next tock...
For as death overcame and took
from life...a tock hung quiet
ever more, with only the rustle
of gravel beneath clean black
tires and polished fenders breaking
the deaf tomb’s solitary howl.

Might a picture, or three
be worthy of less than
a thousand words
yet which weights the
consciousness with so much more?

Magnus~
You pen the beauty of the resting place~
This is hauntingly beautiful~

So lovely~

Excellent write, Magnus.

Breath in me suspended, for a moment, in memory.
