They stand on the roof tops
victims of a hurricane
recipients of raised funds ?
trickling down
clink, clink
kid me no more
in some fat pockets
lies an accumulated store
no nickels for the returns
the poor returns

The rich migrated elsewhere
it all makes sense
in a land of contrasts
and broken contracts
like broken dykes
never kept the seawater out
never built high enough
cause there was no return
on the almighty buck.

Are they still on the rooftops
abandoned pets
rolled in wheelchair cases
gaunt survivor faces
the affluent migrated
broken dreams
lives were demolished

the powers that be wage their war
ignore hard truths at home
but it's tough to admit defeat
turn home again
face the swell of discontent
as with any power
that detracts from personal issues
private thoughts put to light of day..
ghosts line the gutters
of washed out homes
shanty rooftops

Thanks for peeking in Linda one would think more would be interested but it doesn't surprise me that so many turn a blind eye as to what's happening around them...

I agree with the wholeness of this, not to mention, a very significant way of expressing it.
