I hung up my spurs, and I hocked my old saddle-
With no thoughts of getting it out.
No more rodeo, and no more punching cattle,
A lifestyle I can well do without.

At least, that's what I thought, but I found I was wrong...
It was more than a job- I should have known all along.
I miss my old friends, and the rodeo lights.
I guess I was wrong, I ain't never been right.

She told me, "It's over, I'm hunting new range-
I've given up hoping, that you'll ever change.
I'm tired of tomorrows, that don't don't seem to come.
Maybe I'm crazy, but, Babe, I ain't dumb."

I guess I was wrong, when I told her, "That's fine-
I've really been missing the sweet thangs and wine."
But now that she's left me, and I sit here alone-
I know that I love her, and treated her wrong.

I guess I was wrong, now I'm getting old-
While I'm still competin', my saddle is cold.
And with the end nearing, I'm counting the cost,
I guess I was wrong, and I know that I lost.

Hi cowboy...good to see you here tonight.
You didn't lose..you did what you thought was right, for you.
And a cowboy has to do what a cowboy has to do.
Excellent write John..love hearing your tales.

I think if we were never wrong, we'd never learn a single thing.  It's good to see you posting again....that isn't wrong!

Gunslinger,
Awesome as always. It is a pleasure to read your writing.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
