Katrina's Fury
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Brooding clouds hung low in sky,
And were rushing fast to shore.
There were no silver linings,
As torrential rains did pour.

Stormy waters roiled and churned,
And soon did flood the land.
The carnage that lay in the wake,
Was beyond Man’s understand.

Screaming winds from Dante’s Hell,
‘Caused folks to flee in scurry.
To seek out havens in which to hide,
From Katrina’s raging fury.

Rushing waters staked their claims,
To lands not rightly theirs.
All was lost in this deluge,
Amid the anguished prayers.

In the calm of the aftermath,
The silence was foreboding.
Debris and bodies floated by,
With morale and hope eroding.

The losses were far greater,
Than one could comprehend.
And then there'd be the coping,
With what lay ‘round the bend.

Like the rising of the Phoenix,
Brave hearts will conquer all.
They’ll put their lives in order,
And once again stand tall.

So well done, Linda.  It definitely will take brave hearts to rebuild their lives.  It is absolutely overwhelming to think about the damage, the lives lost, the effect on every family, our whole nation economically...all of it...just plain overwhelming.  We must count our blessings every day...this is the lesson...never take things for granted.  loveyoulots......lilyjo

Your highly incisive words show how deeply Katrina’s fury affects all those involved and even those not directly involved due to the vast consequences in all fields. It is this world’s destiny to go through cataclysms of such dimensions and to rebuild the future, thanks to the innate faith and spirit of initiative of many brave hearts.

Highly appreciating your touching work, dear Linda!

Love and hugs.

iliana ~

Yes, lily jo, it is all so overwhelming ~ but like the proverbial phoenix, they will rise again.

Daily I pray for the hapless victims ~ both dead and alive...

Love & Light,
Linda
