Oh mighty ocean
calm and strong,
to walk your shores
I truly do long.

I stand and gaze
upon an ocean swell,
I wonder of what stories
it could tell.

Stories of lovers
under moonlit skies,
or of the sea lust
in a sailors eyes.

Tell me stories of ships
that once sailed upon your seas,
of your oceans calm
before a stormy breeze.

I wonder what stories
that the sea could tell,
lying there deeply hidden
under an ocean swell.

Donna, I'm thinking that "calm" might be what so many are hoping for right now, what with Rita slapping everyone around today.
Yes, the sea could tell us more than we might ever want to hear.
I like thinking about it this way, as a potential storyteller.

I wait for such a swell
to carry me a stories tell
from a bottle sealed by wax
of all which it contacts
from paradise, and those lost
from Love simply tossed ....

there was a time islanders would communicate through the water
by sending messages which would be delivered by the hands of fate,
and the current of the seas.

a beautiful piece, in word and in spirit.

It looked like
a battle zone
debris everywhere
the sky was still gray and a
faint mist lay over the island
the wind had a
slight pinch to it
and the sand looked
like a ghost dancing
over the beach
the sea had reclaimed it's
memory and started a new

The imagery in your poem is beautiful! I liked the part about the "sea lust in a sailor's eyes". Very nice.

I'm not your type,
I'm not inflatable.

I also wonder, Donna. Wouldn't that
be interesting. Good writing, as always.

Donna, this is beautiful.  The sea certainly is full of stories, apparently she wants us to hear a few of them here on the Gulf Coast....I like the kind you tell here.   .....jo

Beautiful, dear Donna!

The sea murmurs continuously of what it holds ... it's fascinating and scaring all at once.

I thank you each, for taking the time to read my babbling and scribbles..

you bless me, and make me smile.

Lauren, thank you for the beautiful gift of words in which I would reply..

And in it's rebirth
were seen visions upon visions
tinted with the oh so familiar sights
and  smells that brought with it
peaceful sounds abounding
thus becoming the waves
that gently rolled   into the future,
and all it holds....

thank you L~

and Maree?
as soon as I hit the lottery,
Im there.

peace to all.

Sea foam, and
seagrass loam, when
time and tomb
oh, they call again...

where's my beach,
some where in reach,
all it can teach...
and we leach

all that it tells,
of lows and of swells
between chimes, and bells...
...in love, I fell....

with the sea...

                   with the sea...

                                         with the sea

Yes, you were correct...
the muse is now awake...

with the sea,
she fell in love
haunted by it's power
and peace

her wish eternal,
never to cease

to be again held
in it's embrace

to have the space;
the freedom to breathe;

to feel the damp
spray of sea

to find the grace
that guides her days...

Love you momma K.
