In shadows of gray
lie these charred
and scattered thoughts,
collections of heart speaks
singed by another’s desire

leaving memories there
to hot to hold
but that flame smoldered out
long ago

and in my forgiveness
I've found myself picking
through good versus bad
yet,
you’re still the best
that I've ever had
in love;

Oh, what a love
it was indeed;

joy mixed with pain
through words,
I've learned  to bleed

and I need you now
as I did then,
back when    fires raged
lighting the night

when everything
       still was right.

I'm sifting through dreams
and memories
and all that remains here,

in these shades    of ash.

live for today,
dream of the future,
and learn eternal truths from the past..

I think love is sometimes like that, we all shift to find the happier moments, and sometimes wish the harder moments would fade like ash....

Excellent write Donna...
I guess we all hope the good times were really 'good'..
if you know what I mean..
a reassurance that we had something good.
Heart-hugs.

I wait now at the lake or walking by the bay
I wait and listen or put a seashell
to my ear and it all comes back
the wind's soft murmur..and you.

GentlestOne~

'singed by another’s desire'

'yet,

that I've ever had
in love'

Oh, wow ... seems the embers hold such warm memories~

I've stirred these ashes ... and found such warmth in the burn of their remembering~

Thank you, each.

Nancy, it's not really hoping it is good
its keeping what is known to be good
and just chuckin the rest out of the window
sort of.  I know, you know.

And for those who understand,
my thanks and

live for today,
dream of the future,
and learn eternal truths from the past..
