Time beads on my skin
Like the smelly sweat
Of an obese factory worker
In the deep south on a July day

Time you don’t have
Time you can’t manage
It seeps into my pores
Reminding me with intoxicating
Accuracy that I am not at the top of your list
of things important

I wait with feigned patients and
Fake smile
Telling you and anyone else
That it’s okay to treat me this way

Tell me you’re too busy
Or have obligations hip deep
Tell me you “guess” you can see me later
Then tell me you miss me

Time beads on my skin
A reminder of passage
Carrying me further and further
From any regards for what hope use to mean

Welcome to Passions, and this post could be so many people's story in life, and a sad one.  Time to pick different friends that's for sure.

Welcome, OS!

I am of the mind that we pick the friends that we have, but if they are not friends to us in return, then I say, "Adios amigo!"

Mind you, a friend may be less of a friend during their difficult moments and I most assuredly would not abandon them at those times. However, if they repeatedly cause me personal hardship and sadness, then it most definitely is "Syronnarra(?), Baby!"

We must honour ourselves!

Warm, welcoming hug,
EA

How beautifully sorrowful that was.  I too know the feeling of being denied the love you thought was once yours...and as time reveals...mayhaps that wasn't the case!  Lovely write!

BTW...welcome to Passions...you're poetry will be greatly accepted here!
