His Living Rope
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

I’m drowning in my sorrows,
~They consume the depths of me.
This angst and apprehension,
Is a black and endless sea.

My world’s gone topsy turvy,
~I don't know down from up.
The once sweet wine has spilled from,
Our tarnished loving cup.

Gray skies are bleak and stagnant,
Since your sun has ceased to shine.
I’m lost and cannot find my way,
Through teary seas of brine.

My heart is beating slower,
For my body is shutting down.
I’m sinking to the ocean’s floor,
As I lose my life and drown…

*~*

Suddenly a glowing light,
Is a radiant beam of hope.
God’s Hand reaches out for me,
And lowers His Living Rope.

My poetry has been very sad lately because of all the tragic fall-out from Katrina. I literally was sobbing when I wrote my two poems on the storm and on the aftermath.

Feeling as disheartened as I do, I was moved to write a sad love poem. My heart is so heavy. I could literally cry a river.

Even your sad poems carry beauty, Linda.  Hang onto that rope always...I know you do.  I look at the picture you chose and feel a river of tears, but I see the rope and your love within it.  Love & Light....lily jo

jo, I seldom write sad poetry even though I have experienced many lows in my life. I always grab onto His 'Life Line' when going through desperate times.

As you know, dear friend, all is well with my loving life. I enjoy writing love poems but I felt like writing a sad one and included my perceptions and some of my feelings and emotions regarding Katrina.

Hugs with love,
Linda

Linda....This poem may be sad, but it is filled with the beauty of hope, and that is not sad at all!!

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, I hope everything is OK, dearest friend, as you know I am always here to comfort you in times of need, as that is always what friends do! (sad sigh) I feel like this every now and then too, as I believe it is a most human emotion to have, but hope will always come in and keep us on our feet and keep the sun gleaming in our faces, yay! God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah, you are indeed a good friend to me ~ and to so many other people! That is just the kind of angel that you are!

I don't understand why September has always been such a difficult month for me! I can understand November and Febrary, but why gorgeous September? I love the month, but the month doesn't love me!

Phil, you have a compassionate heart as well! I think that that is one of the qualities that we poets have in common!

Thank you for all of your comments on my poetry today! They were much appreciated!

I've been absent for a while... and my heart's so heavy I had to push myself in here...

But... talk about directed. *S* This is the first poem I opened today... and it's perfect. *S*

Thank you, my friend... your tears created beauty that refreshed my soul.

suthern ~

You have been conspicuous by your absence, Belle. I am sorry to hear that your heart is heavy... How is your father doing?

I am pleased that my poem offered you some comfort this day.

Healing hugs of love,
Linda

Linda, thank you for writing such a heartfelt
and compassionate poem. This is how so many are probably
feeling in this world. It is such a shame. I hate
to see people be unhappy.
